SEED SPOTLIGHT – NOVEMBER 15TH

Harvest Update

Below average soil and air temperatures halted anhydrous application and tillage in many places. Some operations halted harvest for a few days as well, in hopes that warmer weather would arrive to help cut down on drying costs.

The state of Minnesota is 87% complete with corn harvest, which is  6 days ahead of last year.  Our soybean crop is 97% harvested, which is 9 days behind last year and 10 days behind the 5-year average.

Seed Spotlight of the Week – November 15

As you start to form your seed portfolio for 2019, you may be wondering what new hybrids deserve a look.  Two front-runners that we are excited to see more of and get onto a few acres this upcoming year are DKC47-54SS and DKC55-53SS.  In a year where Mother Nature threw the kitchen sink at us, these were both hybrids that showed consistency and shined.

This week we have placed the soybean spotlight on Asgrow’s AG19X8, a 1.9 maturity soybean that was introduced this past year and will be a front-runner for 2019.
